Thanks From Fans to Summer

Thanks to Piffle on the forum for gathering these together. I thought they were worthy of a whole page on the site!

Dear Summer Glau,

It seems like forever ago that I saw a beautiful and fragile looking ballet dancer on Angel. My, how the times have changed. Of course I appreciated River on Firefly. She was the one of the most complex and challenging characters and you brought her to life with such beauty and ferocity. I was often awed by how someone so sweet looking could be so...well...disturbing. I am in awe of you! Believe me, we felt every needle, every childlike moment, and gut-wrenching fear that River went through.

That being said, I thought I'd seen what there was to see of River when the series ended. I was SO wrong. I knew Firefly was about River in a lot of ways, but I don't think I truly understood how much until I saw Serenity. You BLEW ME AWAY. Every scene with River was dynamic, agonizing, bittersweet, and truly amazing! River kicks some serious a** in this movie!

What I really want to say is that you astound me. Your depth of feeling and understanding of the character translates through the screen more than you will ever know. We feel responsible for River almost as much as Simon would...we want to take care of her and keep her safe (although it's pretty obvious she can handle herself!) Thank you for making it such a wild ride.

A devoted Browncoat,

Ma'am...

You are so...bendy. ..and talented...and heart-breaking...and hilarious...and frightening...and, well...wonderful.

Crazy is *so* not easy to play. And, well, River's not just crazy, is she? She is special and so are you.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching on the small screen, as well as the big screen. You always surprise me with a turn of phrase, a look, a laugh, a tear.

Please don't ever stop.

I wish you the very best in your career and certainly look forward to any project you might choose to undertake.

Much love and laughter, always...

Dear Ms. Glau,

You and Mr. Fillion were definitely the spotlighted stars for Serenity and although I really love all the characters with equal zest, River is fascinating. You play her with such prowess. It really is moving.

Though I am biased, I think even if I had never been a fan of "Firefly" I would have believed that your performance in this film is worthy of an Oscar.

There was not a milisecond of film in which you lacked finesse. River is a difficult character to play I am sure. A psychic with borderline schizophrenia is a difficult persona to expose to skeptical audiences. But you have done a masterful job at making sure everyone feels what River feels, and is able to relate to her even with her sometimes warped perception of things.

Thank you so much for putting so much beauty and speed and grace and emotion and depth into this character. We really appreciate it.

In Gratitude,

Carmen

Dear Summer (if I may),

Thank you, and everyone, for the film. It was truly wonderful. You're facial expressions alone make the movie (esp. after "Am I takling to Miranda now?" ). This has to be a major jumping off point for you--congratulations!

Dearest Summer,

Well i dont know where to begin, i first saw you on Firefly and i loved your character, River was great, to watch you play her so well, was great, River is my Favorite in the show and the Movie.
I think that your acting was so amazing in Firefly, your kick ass moves and your charisma for the character really showed, i couldnt see anyone every play river tam but you,

I saw serenity for the first time yesterday ( 6-10-2005) and i was blown away, it was amazing, i loved it that much that i saw it again today.

You work so well with all the other cast!

You are one in a million a brilliant person, with heart.

I met you a year + back now and you were so sweet, and i then met you again last November and i will again this November and i cant wait, You are one of the sweetest people i have ever met,

Ms. Summer Glau...

Let me start with a proposal: Will you marry me? No? Aww...Oh well, I still got a few kind words to say anyway.

You were the most complex character on the show...and the most physically active character in Serenity. Oh my god, are you ever bendy. Not to mention only you could make a blood splattered girl, holding two sharp weapons (note: both dripping with blood), surrounded by reaver bodies hot. Seriously, the last thing i saw that was close was the bride in KILL BILL. Your too damn pretty to...well...have bad fortune...i guess. ANYWAY! You amazmed me with your courage of playing such a character as River, and I was touched in your interviews when you expressed such love for your character. And your sooo damn nice too! Your going places kid...Keep it up.

ALSO! Marraige proposal always open...

Love always!

Hey! No problem, I just wanted to let Summer know that we all love her! (She should'nt doubt that! :D )

I feel so special being on the front page and all...

Dear Summer:

You may or may not remember, but my husband Kurt and I bumped into you and Nathan Fillion in Barcelona (we were that couple that was on their honeymoon). We kinda figured you were in a hurry and wanted to be on your way, plus I'm sure Nathan wanted to properly digest the sandwhich he had to shove down his throat when we recognized him.

But I just wanted to let you know that it was such an enormous pleasure meeting you (and the other two ladies that were with you- I'm assuming one of them was your mother) and Serenity was a fabulous film that you should be extremely proud of, I'm so sorry it didn't do so well box office wise. It doesn't matter to a lot of us though, we still think you're awesome, kick ass, beautiful and very talented. There is a long path ahead of you.

Your fan,

Liz

Hey Hollywood,
Saw your movie and I am very proud / jealous of you. I got everyone at work to go see it. I'm very glad that serenity was so well received. Looks like you’ve got a lot of fans, including one of my graphic design professors. I hope everything is going good for you. Drop me a line sometimes.

Dear Summer,

I want to tell you how totally impressed I was with your performance in Serenity. I have seen thousands of movies of all types so when I say that I enjoyed yours the most, you can understand that includes movies from the 30's to the present. I have seen it more than thirty times in the theater and every time you brought me to tears in your scenes. You are a fantastic actor and I am looking forward to seeing you in more films.
